Ranthambore National Park

January 6
We left Agra and drove all day to Ranthambore National Park in Sawai Madhopur. The next morning we toured the Ranthambore Fort. It was a military stronghold built in the 10th century. We hiked up to the fort and walked around the site. Our driver hiked up also and took us to a look out point that had a great view of a lake.
Anil our driver, a great guy.

Later that afternoon we were going on our"Tiger Safari Tour" in Ranthambore National Park. In the past this was one of the former hunting grounds of the Maharajas of Jaipur for tigers. We went in a jeep with 4 other interesting people and saw a variety of wildlife, but NO Tigers. When we got inside the park there were several other jeep tours scooting around the park looking for tigers. No wonder we didn't see any!!

Peacock, which is the national bird.

Our jeep and fellow tiger hunters.
