Amber Palace and Fort

Construction for the Amber Palace began in 1592 and took over125 years to finish. The main gate into the place/fort is at a 90 degree angle. The reason is that the invading army's elephants wouldn't be able to get a running start and charge the doors with their heads to break them down. Also, only one elephant at a time could go through the gates.

You ride an elephant up to the fort or walk. We walked!

The fort sits high atop a hill.

Each column was made from a single piece of marble.

Jantar Mantor Observatory

Sarai Jai Singh 11 build this observatory in 1726. This was one of the worlds finest observatories.  The solar instruments were very accurate and were used for creating astrological predictions. Weddings, births, measuring complex celestial data, arranging marriages, telling time, star locations, angle of the planets and more could be done using these instruments. Astrology is still used today in planning events, like marriages.
